Morocco’s capital city and largest metropolitan area, Rabat is home to the University of Hassan II, a renowned learning institution with an international reputation. You can easily reach Rabat from anywhere in Morocco by plane or train—it’s only about an hour away from Casablanca and two hours from Marrakech. If you need to get somewhere quickly but don’t want to spend much money on flights, there are several options available:

  • If you’re flying into Casablanca (CMN), consider taking one of the many public buses that depart for Rabat every day at around 11:00 AM. The trip takes about three hours and costs 150 MAD ($15 USD).

  • Another option is to take a bus from Fez (FEZ) or Oujda (OUD), which will both cost about 250 MAD ($25 USD).

  • In all cases, you’ll need a valid passport as well as an onward ticket out of Morocco within six days after arrival if entering by land border crossings into Spain or France respectively; otherwise no visa will be required until December 2020 due either  to economic reasons or political ones depending on who tells the story best!
